You had the impression of a woolly mammoth:
winter white tusks customized to kill.
I had the allure of a Raggedy Ann doll:
head full of yarn and wrinkled red bows.
But no one understood the connection;
we were polar opposites and yet
you tussled each braid of my scalp gently,
mustered the kisses of Siberian stars.
Blessed the padding of my limbs
and declared me your very own.
